Set on a beautiful 40 acre campus in Sherwood Forest, Portland College is a registered Charity and one of the largest and most successful specialist residential colleges for students with disabilities in the UK.


HEAD OF INDEPENDENT LIVING SOCIAL CARE (FULL TIME) 


Reporting directly to the Vice Principal, we are looking for the right candidate to lead and manage the college’s Care Department to ensure that our service provision meets the learner’s care, independent living and educational needs.


Our client group is young, inspirational and energetic and the head of this department will need to be a very special individual who sees what needs to be done and works with our dedicated staff to ensure we maximise on our superb resources.


A passionate and committed advocate for our learners, you will continuously seek opportunities to enhance their levels of independence, supporting their transition and life goals beyond their time here at the college. 


You will have:




  • Extensive managerial experience in a health and social care related sett ing, preferably within a residential environment



  • A comprehensive understanding and application of current legislation and policy on health and social care



  • Signifcant experience of managing and working within a regulated environment and within regulatory frameworks



  • Considerable experience of developing, managing and implementing successful strategies which meet organisational, regulatory and statutory requirements within a health and social care environment



  • Substantial experience of successfully managing and effectively working across multi-disciplinary professional tea



You will be:




  • Either a professionally qualified nurse or hold a minimum of a level 4 relevant management qualification



  • Someone who identifies with our organisational aims and mission and recognises the importance of true team working to achieve the best possible outcomes
